Ira Geller founded Geller Lighting Supply Co., Inc. in 1984 in the basement of his Baltimore home. Ira’s wife, Yasmin, joined the Geller team a few years later. Today, Geller Lighting Supply Co., Inc. is one of the largest light bulb suppliers in Maryland. Learn more about the company at www.gellerlighting.com.
The company uses Microsoft Dynamics GP as a whole-office software package for managing many aspects of the business.
In 2008 Yasmin Geller hired Gross Mendelsohn’s Technology Solutions Group to handle Geller Lighting Supply’s upgrades and ongoing Dynamics GP support. In addition, Stuart Simpson, Geller Lighting Supply’s marketing director, relies on Gross Mendelsohn to help the company identify and implement best practices relating to Dynamics GP. For example, it’s important to Geller Lighting Supply to take full advantage of GP’s reporting capabilities, as well as the package’s inventory management, purchase order processing, and pricing functions.
In 2011 Geller Lighting Supply started a web-based company and asked Gross Mendelsohn’s Technology Solutions Group to help coordinate the integration between the online store and Dynamics GP. Sharon Paul of the Technology Solutions Group helped Geller Lighting Supply select a programmer to handle the integration, then helped manage the project that ultimately linked the company’s Dynamics GP system with the online storefront.
This integration ensures that orders, customers and inventory from the online store are entered seamlessly into Microsoft Dynamics GP, which is Geller Lighting Supply’s accounting and inventory package.
“The knowledge base of Sharon Paul, Michael Marinaro and Tony Marinaro is outstanding,” reflects Yasmin Geller, vice president at Geller Lighting Supply. “It’s been a pleasure working with them. Each of them brings a specific skill set to the table and I know who to call when I need help on a specific issue. Sharon Paul really helps keep it all together. She’s a great leader, very organized, and knows the Microsoft Dynamics GP package inside and out.”
Stuart Simpson, Geller Lighting Supply’s marketing director, recalls getting the new web company up and running. “Sharon Paul was a powerful advocate for us when it came to dealing with the third-party programmer who was responsible for integrating our Dynamics GP package with the online store. Sharon was our anchor of sanity during the whole process. In addition to understanding the technical aspects of the project and often serving as a translator during the project, she helped us maintain the project’s momentum through many challenges. Thanks to the expertise and dedication of Sharon and her team, I can now manage the entire online enterprise from my desk.”
