The company started in 1983 with humble roots, with Lisa Renshaw, Penn Parking’s president, taking over a failing parking garage near Baltimore’s Penn Station at the age of 21. Unable to afford employees but needing an attendant 24 hours a day, Lisa moved into the garage, using a carpet remnant for a bed and a kerosene heater for warmth. For Lisa, parking, washing and waxing cars was the easy part. The challenge was fending off rodents and shoveling snow at 4:30 a.m. so customers could enter the garage. After three and a half years of determination and spirit, Penn Parking took over its second location. The rest, as they say, is history. Penn Parking approached Gross Mendelsohn’s Technology Solutions Group in 2008 because they were unhappy with their accounting software vendor, who didn’t respond quickly to questions and software maintenance needs. Sharon Paul of Gross Mendelsohn’s Technology Solutions Group met with Victoria Grove of Penn Parking.
