Should I upgrade to Windows 7?
Jul 22, 2010
With the recent release of Microsoft Windows 7 the question has been, “What is the benefit of upgrading from Windows XP?”
What’s new with Windows 7?
To start, Windows 7 offers increased performance, ease of use and better security. It starts up much faster than any other operating system and has improved the shutdown and sleep functionality over previous versions. Windows 7 also addresses the compatibility and reliability issues that affected some previous versions of Windows. It is now easier than ever to work with, attach devices and find wireless networks. Windows 7 has taken the ideas from previous versions and built on top of them to create a much more natural and responsive user interface.
Easier navigation
The re-designed toolbar and Windows Aero helps the user navigate through multiple open windows with ease. Jump lists take full advantage of the re-designed toolbar. Right clicking on a toolbar icon will allow the user to open recently viewed documents, web pages, music or photos. The toolbar is completely customizable, so each user can create an individualized user experience. The instant search feature allows users to type just a few letters contained in the name of a document or application. Windows 7 will then search both local and network drives to locate the file.
Remote connectivity and easy printer selection
For the road warriors out there, Windows 7 has made it easier than ever to connect to wireless networks. Location Aware Printing has also been introduced. Users can set up default printers at their office, home, or even their beach condo. Windows 7 will automatically recognize where it is and which printer should be set as the default. Scheduling periodic backups of your system, specific files, or even your whole home or business network ensures that any and all important data is not lost.
Automatic troubleshooting
Have an issue with Windows 7? The auto troubleshooting feature will search for a solution locally, and if necessary, will search the online Microsoft database for a resolution. If all else fails, Windows 7 is able to record the actions that caused the problem. This allows the user to easily send the recording to their company’s help desk.
Why upgrade to Windows 7?
Microsoft Windows 7 is the perfect solution for both your home and business computer. Its improved performance, ease of use and better security allows for users to focus on the work to be done, not the permanence of their operating system. It also offers plenty of options if you want to take a break from work to manage your pictures and music or watch a high definition movie.
